Tanvi Patil, a teen artist, has loved playing with paper ever since she was a toddler. Tired of losing printing paper to her all the time, her dad got her an origami kit for her fifth birthday which was an instant hit! In second grade she got a quilling kit as a gift and found another way to love paper. Tanvi learned the basic quilling techniques through a lot of trial and error, and soon started designing with paper in her own way. Since then she's been experimenting with different art techniques and mixing paper with other art media, making paper gifts for near and dear ones. The best part—she loves that quilling brings so much joy to other people too!

Tanvi is involved in the local community in various ways. She loves to do this most by participating as a visual artist in children’s business fairs during summer vacation. She donates the proceeds to causes that are close to her heart. She has earned various awards in local art competitions and fairs. Tanvi has been a Girl Scout since second grade and her junior troop earned a bronze award in 2021.

Tanvi Patil

Quillographer and Sewist | Visual Artist

NOVEMBER 2016 - PRESENT

As a Quillographer, I explore and fine-tune my quilling techniques through a lot of trial and error, and have been designing with paper in my own way. I have been experimenting with different art techniques, mixing paper with other art media, and making paper gifts for close friends and family.

Keeping an inventory of my paper increased in complexity as my process evolved over the years with me. Also, keeping my tiny, newly formed shapes organized was paramount when working on multiple intricate designs simultaneously for months. To do this, I:

  • Create and maintain an inventory of

    • A variety of papers of varying weights, textures, and colors

    • Quilling paper of various sizes, thicknesses, lengths, and colors

    • Other art and quilling tools and supplies

  • Develop and maintain my unique quilled art piece inventory which consists of more than 100 unique tiny handcrafted pieces that range from 1mm to 10cm in size and 1 mm to 15 mm in thickness. This collection keeps on growing as I experiment and create new designs.

  • As a sewist, I mainly design and sew dresses and style  18” and 14” dolls.
